Hello, I am Bandit and I believe that I am a slam dunk!
In October, 2011, I was turned into a local animal shelter.  This was a foul play in my opinion.  I think I am a number one draft pick with my cute face, floppy ears, and handsome 4 year old fawn and white body.  I also will chatter back and forth with you with a “Rue Rue aRue.”

Being rescued from the shelter was ‘pawsome’ and I have really appreciated it!  I am so thankful that I greet all dogs and adults with the bendy Boxer body maneuver and a quick wag of my stubby tail.  I am also so thankful that, on occasion, you will see me leap into the air.  I’m showing off my skills and pretending to dunk an imaginary basketball.
You probably noticed that I didn’t mention that I greet kids with the same enthusiasm. I haven’t been around these little humans before so I’m not sure if I would like the bear hugs they give the dogs they love.  I suppose supervision would be best, in order to learn if we would be a good match-up.

My foster mom says that I have an easy going personality and that I walk with a loose leash.  Without a leash, something may catch my eye, and I may wander off to check it out.  My foster mom also says that, like most working dogs, I have no problem working for food.  I know how to “come” and “sit”, and am learning “down” and “stay.”
I am crate trained and am working hard to become housebroken.  At first, I wasn’t sure how often I was supposed to go.  I would try to hold my business for a very long time…even when I was given lots of opportunities to go out.  Trying to hold it so long was hard work though and I would sometimes have an accident.  Lately, though, I’ve really been getting the hang of it.  Now, when my foster mom or dog sitter lets me out, I know what to do!  I am so proud of myself.  I consider it another slam dunk!
I’m also a real team player and prefer to play with another dog.  If another dog does not want to play, I will put a substitute in: a Dino Nylabone, a rubber ball, or a soft stuffed squeaker toy.

Though I am really good at sharing my toys, at times I have guarded food.  In order to give me the safety I need when I eat, it is best to allow me to eat away from my canine brothers or sisters.

One other thing that I would like to mention; during my ‘pawsome’ rescue stay, I had a mast cell tumor removed from my left hind leg. Thankfully the vet got a clean margin and I got a clean bill of health.  I have also been neutered and am up to date on all my shots.
If you are looking for an all-star player to add to your team,
I’m your number one pick. Bandit!
